OHS ALERT This Alert is notify all workers to immediately cease installing and working with any potential fire-rated plasterboard products supplied by USG Boral until further notice. USG Boral have notified customers that vermiculite imported from China, which is an ingredient in their fire rated plasterboard products, may be contaminated with asbestos. All sites must immediately identify and quarantine all USG Boral fire-rated plasterboard products. Immediately refrain from installing and/or working with such products (i.e. no cutting, drilling, penetrating, sanding etc.) until further notice. Sites may undertake their own comprehensive, thorough and robust scientific testing of these products – but only under the highest occupational hygiene standards and by duly qualified asbestos occupational hygienists, experienced in asbestos sampling and identification.
